Business litigation search

Business litigation search for lenders

Find the lawsuits filed against a business before you fund it, and get alerted when a new one appears after. Entitylight searches the courts in the same lookup as the state record and UCC filings.

  • Miami-Dade County, Broward County and New York State courts
  • Plaintiffs, case type, filing date and status
  • New lawsuits flagged after you fund

Sample data. Business and party names are made up.

Status

Courts searched

Miami-Dade County, Florida
Cases filed against the business in Miami-Dade County.
Broward County, Florida
Cases filed against the business in Broward County.
New York State courts
Cases filed against the business in New York State courts.

Other courts, including federal courts, are not searched, so a business sued elsewhere will not show a case here. Every report lists which courts were searched for that business.

When a court cannot answer in full

If a court's site is down, the report marks it unavailable instead of showing no cases. When a court lists more cases than could be read, the report says some may be missing. Broward, for example, shows at most 200 cases for a name.

An unavailable court is never shown as a clean record, so you know when to check the court yourself.

Alerts after you fund

Add the business to your watchlist and choose how often to check it, from daily to every 30 days. Each check is compared with the last, and new lawsuits are flagged along with new UCC filings and changes to the state record.

Questions about business litigation search

Which courts do you search?

Miami-Dade County, Broward County and New York State courts.

Do you search federal courts or bankruptcy filings?

No. Only those three court systems are searched, so a case filed anywhere else will not appear.

What happens when a source is unavailable?

The report marks that source as unavailable instead of showing an empty result, so a missing record is never mistaken for a clean one. Lookups where no source could be searched aren't charged.

Can I be alerted after I fund a business?

Yes. Add the business to your watchlist and choose how often to check it, from daily to every 30 days. Each check is compared with the last, and new UCC filings, new lawsuits and state record changes are flagged.

How much does a lookup cost?

Your first 20 lookups are free. Paid plans start at $299 a month for 400 lookups, and every plan includes full reports, monitoring and the API.
