When a court can't answer in full

Every response says, for each court, whether it was searched. If a court's site is down, the court is marked unavailable instead of returning no cases, so a missing answer is never read as a clean record.

When a court lists more cases than could be read, the response says some may be missing. Broward, for example, shows at most 200 cases for a name.

Questions about the lawsuit search API

Which courts does the API search?

Miami-Dade County, Broward County and New York State courts. Cases filed in any other court, including federal and bankruptcy courts, are not included.

Can I search lawsuits without the rest of the report?

Court cases come back as part of a business lookup, together with the Secretary of State record and UCC filings, and the whole lookup counts once against your plan.

How do I hear about lawsuits filed later?

Watch the business. Each check flags cases that weren't there before and sends them to your system by webhook.

What happens when a source is unavailable?

The report marks that source as unavailable instead of showing an empty result, so a missing record is never mistaken for a clean one. Lookups where no source could be searched aren't charged.

Is the API included in every plan?

Yes. Every plan includes the API, and lookups made through it count against your plan the same way as lookups in the app.
